Tana di volpe, castello feudale, sesso-gorgo: metamorfosi di Malpertuis

Abstract

RIASSUNTO: Il teriomorfismo dei personaggi del Roman de Renart fa sì che anche la dimora della volpe venga presentata tanto come una semplice tana quanto come un vero e proprio castello. Il presente contributo propone un vaglio dei lemmi con cui è designato Malpertuis, per provare che queste scelte lessicali non sono quasi mai decontestualizzate, ma rispettano la precisa connotazione semantica che, di volta in volta, si vuole dare al luogo. Un confronto con altra letteratura coeva e successiva mostrerà, poi, la fortuna di questo toponimo e la persistenza delle medesime connotazioni simboliche in tutti i testi in cui è citato.

ABSTRACT: The theriomorphism of the characters of the Roman de Renart means that even the abode of the fox is presented as much as a simple den as a real castle. This paper proposes a screening of the entries with which Malpertuis is designated, to prove that these lexical choices are almost never decontextualized, but respect the precise semantic connotation that, from time to time, authors want to give to the place. A comparison with other contemporary and subsequent literature will show, then, the fortune of this toponym and the persistence of the same symbolic connotations in all the texts in which it is quoted.
