Taumaturgie provenzali (dal ms. Firenze, Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana, Ashburnham 105)

Abstract

RIASSUNTO: Il ms. Ashburnham 105, conservato presso la Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana di Firenze e composto da due volumi (105a e 105b), è una miscellanea di testi in lingua provenzale databile al xiv secolo ed esemplata per uso personale da un Peyre de Serras che, come si deduce dal ‘livre de raisons’ da lui scritto sulle cc. 1-9r del 105b, era uno speziale attivo nell’area avignonese intorno alla metà del xiv secolo. La maggior parte delle opere che lo compongono sono di carattere devozionale o espressamente riferibili all'attività esercitata dal suo autore, tra cui un Receptari, un Antidotari e altre ricette sparse, annotate tra un testo e l’altro. L’intento di questo studio è quello di analizzare sia le ricette influenzate da credenze e tradizioni popolari al di là delle mere competenze erboristiche-farmaceutiche, sia i vari amuleti testuali che Peyre si prende cura di trascrivere.

ABSTRACT: The ms. Ashburnham 105, preserved at the Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana in Florence and composed of two volumes (105a and 105b), is a miscellany of texts in Provençal language datable to the fourteenth century and exemplified for personal use by a Peyre de Serras who, as can be deduced from the ‘livre de raisons’ written by him on cc. 1-9r of 105b, was an apothecary active in the Avignon area around the middle of the fourteenth century. The majority of the works that compose it are devotional in character or expressly referable to the activity exercised by its author, including a Receptari, an Antidotari and other scattered recipes, annotated between one text and another. The intent of this study is to analyze both the recipes influenced by beliefs and popular traditions beyond the mere herbal-pharmaceutical skills and the various textual amulets that Peyre takes care to transcribe.
